MODO | Creating a Shadow Catcher
This short video introduces the Shadow Catcher option in MODO by setting up a shadow catcher in a simple scene. When you assign a material a shader with the Alpha type set to Shadow Catcher all of that Material’s attributes are invisible and the surface will exclusively render shadows cast by direct and indirect illumination. While not exclusively used for compositing, this feature can be incredibly useful for compositing cg elements into a photograph or live action sequence.
