Efficient Lighting and Texturing in Modo
In this training you will learn how to light and texture environments in the quickest and most efficient way, without needing to use UV maps. You can apply image-based textures in a variety of ways, using texture locators or geometric projections. These textures can then be baked quickly if you need to export assets to other programs, and I demonstrate the fastest and simplest baking workflow you can use to achieve this.
You can also optimise your lighting by leveraging the global illumination engine, and this process is explained, giving you the ability to render your scenes quickly.
The training also covers render settings, render passes and compositing. In the final section you will learn how to relight your scenes in post, allowing for complete control over the art direction of your lighting in real time.
The focus of this training is on working as efficiently as possible, using the simplest workflows to get results quickly. The thinking behind each process is explained so that you come away with an understanding of why you should use the approaches shown.
The training can be applied to any version of Modo, including older versions.
